I wanted to recreate Un'goro Crater from World of Warcraft as it was always one of my favorite zones. I decided to focus on the tar pit area as that seemed the most interesting. Brought in some elements from other areas of the zones like the oddly stacked rocks and glowing crystals. Some props I already posted some breakdowns on, the rest should be laid out under various images. Final render in Unreal.
I wanted a challenge with Gaea, so I wanted to make the entire zone and its surrounding areas in one mesh. Each zone was setup and colored separately and combined with masks.
